As part of our ongoing mission to support women in crisis, COLFS regularly hosts baby showers for mothers who have chosen life. Through the Baby Shower Program, moms receive necessary material and emotional support and encouragement to continue in their decision for life.
Last month, we hosted a shower for Maira. Maira already has an older child and faced concerns over the age difference between her two children. Though she felt that she would be “starting all over again” with a second child, she made the long trip to COLFS for an ultrasound. After seeing her baby and talking with our counselors, Maira decided to choose life! Her baby shower, planned by a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, helped her realize how much support and care she had from the COLFS community, for which she is truly grateful.
The Baby Shower Program ministers specifically to mothers who have chosen life at our clinics. These women visit our clinics in crisis, where they are provided with ultrasound and pregnancy services and meet with our counselors to discuss their difficulties. With the help of our wonderful volunteers, we celebrate these babies and communicate our appreciation for the courage shown by moms who have chosen life, providing them with a loving, supportive community.
Baby showers are just one of the services offered after their first meeting with us – moms can also enroll in our Earn While You Learn program, which allows them to earn points towards essentials like diapers and clothes by taking online parenting classes. These programs help moms stay connected with the COLFS community, where they and their children can learn, grow, and receive care for years to come.
