What Is a “Culture of Life”?

The “culture of life” stands in opposition to the modern “culture of death” by promoting a wholehearted and unconditional respect for human life at all stages. In a culture of life, people are valued according to their intrinsic worth as children of God, and cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually. At COLFS, this mission is lived out by our commitment to providing affordable, quality, pro-life care through our community clinic, including compassionate treatment for women in crisis pregnancies.

What Are Community Clinics?

A community clinic is a healthcare facility operated by a nonprofit which charges for services based on a patient’s ability to pay, usually using a sliding fee scale. Community clinics are often mission-focused, with the goal of providing basic medical care to everyone. Many clinics also provide educational programs or material services to help their patients lead a healthy lifestyle.

Why Should They Provide Pregnancy Support Services?

Community clinics exist in large part to serve individuals who are financially insecure or medically underserved. Many women in crisis pregnancies fall into these categories and would likely come to their community clinic seeking help. To provide these women with comprehensive care, community clinics should be prepared to offer the same degree of support to the unborn child and its mother as they would to any other family. This includes assistance in areas like prenatal care, parenting education, and material or emotional resources.

What Does COLFS Provide?

At COLFS, we believe in providing holistic care for the entire person – serving our patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs – from conception to natural death. In order to promote the health and happiness of our entire community, we provide services based on pro-life, Catholic ethical principles. Our Christ-centered pregnancy clinic services are provided to all women regardless of their financial situation, and include counseling, ultrasounds, medical care, and referrals for housing and adoption options.
